Update Preview

Welcome to the first update preview!

Let's start off with the balance part of this update.

Balance

The Colt Revolver has had its damage massively nerfed, while its reload time has been buffed. From a (Default) reload speed of 1 to 7 and from its old damage of 50 to 35.

The damage was changed due to a complaint I heard that every other weapon is useless when the Colt revolver can kill everything within a couple of shots. The reload speed being buffed was to make the gun still a viable choice, but...

The Magnum Revolver had the opposite, having its damage massively buffed and its reload time nerfed. From a (Default) reload speed of 5 to 2 and from its old damage of 15 to 35.

The damage was changed due to it being an extremely unviable option to use in combat and made the Colt revolver argument even more true. The reload speed was adjusted to ensure it wasn't too overpowered.

There are more balance changes, but this post will get a little too long.

Animation Tweaks

After realizing that some of the weapon animations were just bad, I went back and either completely overhauled the animation or tweaked it to make it feel better to use.

One of the offenders was the Machete; its old animation was horrible. It looked more like you were tapping on the zombies instead of hitting them. Now, instead, you'll stab them.

Another one was the Colt Revolver, which animation was tweaked a bit but made the gun feel better to use by adding some recoil to its animation.

Like the last section, there are more tweaks, but you'll be able to see them in the update log.

Gameplay Options

After reading some posts on Reddit about the "Developer's vision" and the "Player's vision," as well as playing Red Dead Redemption 2, I decided that the player should get to choose how they want the game to play and feel.

Introducing Gameplay Options:

If you want to kill zombies without any regard for hunger or anything else, you can disable hunger (or thirst and sleep in Hardcore).

If you want to make the game harder than Hardcore and feel more "realistic," you can also lower the max ammo of every firearm in the game.

There are more options I haven't mentioned yet (e.g., radiation, max health, max stamina, etc.), but you'll see those in the update.

Anyways, that'll be all for this preview. The update should be out sometime this month or early next month, but either way, I'll see you all at the next update!
